We are a group of parents, carers and teachers of children at Seamer and Irton CP School. Our aim is to raise money and provide a few extras for the school that will benefit the children.

Purchases in the past have included curtains, library books, in house Christmas productions and transport to Christmas productions .

Our most recent donation of £2500 has been used to buy various things from the teachers wish list such as new listening centres and camcorders.

Another recent idea suggested by the Headteacher, Mr Wanless, was to provide each year 6 pupil with an autograph book where they can store signatures, comments and even photographs to remind them of their times at the school.

This book is a hard back with a school logo and Friends have decided to make this an annual presentation.

Another new idea paid for by FRIENDS is a shield for the CLASSMATE OF THE YEAR in each of the 13 classes. The pupils themselves vote for the person they think deserves this. The shield has the class name and teacher on it and the school logo .

This is a very popular award and the winning child from each class receives it in the presentation assembly in July.

Fund raising activities in the past have included discos, fashion shows, Christmas Fairs, pea hunts, treasure hunts etc .

All these events need help. We are ALWAYS looking for new members, as obviously when children move to other schools, so do the parents and our numbers can dwindle unless we get some new people on board

Meetings are held about every 6 weeks, sometimes straight after school or sometimes in the local pub on a midweek evening. This gives a bit of flexibility for people to attend one if not the other.

Even if you did want to attend meetings, but just help generally then you would be most welcome. We keep a list of helpers who we can call on to assist at discos or man the refreshments at concerts, stand behind a stall at the fair etc.
